The average life expectancy in the US in 2024 is about 77.5 years. According to the CDC, it is approximately 74.8 years for males and around 80.2 years for females. That puts “middle age” in your late thirties, damn.

You have roughly 3,700 weeks, 871 months, and about 70 Christmases.

Take a minute this week to consider the idea that you will not live forever. While you do so, think about how old the ground you walk on, the sky over your head, or the air in your lungs is.

Acknowledging your mortality is not morbid or defeatist; it’s quite the opposite. Recognizing that your life is finite is the first step in truly enjoying it.

It sounds incredibly cliché, but when you understand that each moment is precious, you appreciate the small things and prioritize what truly matters.
